Jeannie Chantler's blog
2012
Apologies for delay in update - Christmas got in the way!! Well at last Bangor has managed to run it's January meeting, lost in 2010 to frost and 2011 to snow - but last Friday we managed it. That was the first ever race meeting at Bangor on Dee - ever!!
The inner track was a saving grace with the recent rain and the height of the river it gave us the chance to make sure we raced.

Peddlers Cross.
WOW! I am sure anyone that is bothering to look at this Blog, will have either seen the beautiful Peddlers Cross yesterday at Bangor on his debut Novice Chase or watched it on the TV. Not only is he a picture of a horse, but when he was walking around the Parade Ring, you could see that like any proper horse - he knows he is!
Beauty!
Look at this - taken at 8.30 this morning, where better to go to work - how lucky are we!! A little bit of heaven.
The guys in the balloon must have had a cracking view of the track (rather them than me)!
JC
November lots going on.
Firstly just to say a big thank you to Donald McCain for his Blog for the last 12 months. Sadly he has now moved on to a blog with another slightly large audience - not surprising since he is now such a high flier. How lucky are we to have him as our friend and supporter. Thanks Donald.
Thursday
Looking forward to racing on Thursday, decent entries and the weather looks to set fair - up to 25 degress at the end of September!! Lots of water on hand for any horses that may get a bit warm, positioned at lots of areas round the parade ring, unsaddling areas and at the bottom of the horsewalk for when they finish each race.
Hospitality is very busy so if you want to sit down for lunch I suggest you ring Kirsty on 01244 304606 as soon as possible so as not to be disappointed.
The Aintree Legend
A very sad day for the McCain Family and for National Hunt Racing. The untimely passing of Ginger McCain earlier today will bring a tear to many an eye - including my own.
A Mole in The Camp!!
Morning Bloggers.
Breaking News: Those of you who attend Bangor on Dee Races on a regular basis will be well aware of the pristine lawns in the Paddock Enclosure, dutifully attended by one of the groundstaff. The pride this worker takes in his lawns is second to none and they are always like the proverbial bowling green.
July at Bangor on Dee
Tuesday evening last week as the start of a new season for us was a great success. Over 2000 in attendance and some good racing although not huge numbers of runners.
Now looking towards Friday and Ladies Day. If you want a seat in a restaurant you have very little time left, we are sold out in the usual areas for hospitality, but have organised some further areas so a wee bit of space left. Debenhams are as usual doing their Make Up Demonstrations in the marquee a the end of the Parade Ring and Best Dressed Lady too - steady boys!!
End of our Season
Well there we go another season (if there is such a thing in National Hunt Racing!) come and gone at Bangor on Dee - and now a well earned six week break for the track itself. We need some rain and some warm days to get that grass growing so the groundstaff can work their magic once again.
