The 14 days of National Hunt racing at Bangor-on-Dee in 2008 take place throughout the year offering both summer and winter fixtures.

We hope that you will find the following information useful and have included information on all of our facilities here at Bangor-on-Dee, the race conditions in advance of each meeting, as well as an appropriate contact list for all key personnel at the racecourse.

Bangor-on-Dee´s facilities have been improved hugely over the last few years, with the fantastic Nicolson Building housing the Owners and Trainers Bar over looking the Pre-Parade Ring. Further developments are in the pipeline and we are constantly looking to meet and exceed the expectations of the growing numbers of visitors Bangor-on-Dee enjoys each year.

We hope that we will be able to welcome you at some point during the year as an owner, trainer or racegoer and we would like to take the opportunity to wish you a successful season.

BANGOR-ON-DEE A-Z

BADGES

The PASS system at Bangor-on-Dee Racecourse is operated from the dedicated Owners’ & Trainers’ entrance. For hoses declared at the final declaration stage, owners are entitled to 4 badges per horse, partnerships and syndicates to 6.  Additional badges can be purchased, at a discounted rate, on the day or in advance by phoning 01978 780323.

CAR PARKING

A designated Owners’ & Trainers’ car park is available on all race days as marked on the racecourse map below. Members of the Press may also use this car park provided they have the correct RCA car park pass.

CHILDREN

Accompanied children under 16 are admitted free to both enclosures. In accordance with the BHA General Instructions, no children under the age of 16, are allowed in the Parade Ring at any time.

GOING REPORTS

HELICOPTERS

Helicopters may only land and take off on the Racecourse by prior arrangement with Bangor-on-Dee Racecourse.

HOSPITALITY

IF you are interested in hospitality at Bangor-on-Dee Racecourse, please contact Jeannie Chantler, General Manager at Bangor-on Dee Racecourse. We will be happy to help you organise the perfect day at the races.

HOTELS

There are a range of hotels in the local area as listed in the Where to Stay section. Our sister racecourse in Chester also offers accommodation at its on-site hotel -The Express by Holiday Inn. For availability and to book please ring 01244 327900 

OWNERS’ & TRAINERS’ FACILITIES

The reserved Owners’ &  Trainers’ Bar is located within the Nicolson Building, adjacent to the Pre-Parade Ring. As well as full bar facilities, a variety of hot and cold food is also served here. Complimentary tea and coffee will also be available throughout the day.

OVERSEAS RUNNERS

RESTAURANTS

There are two restaurants on offer at Bangor-on-Dee, both of which are very popular. The Paddock Restaurant offers a 3-course “a la carte” menu, whilst the Wynnstay Restaurant is an informal option.

ROA

We wish to provide the best facilities possible for our owners and to this end, publish a full list of the services we provide on the ROA Perfect Day website.  If you have any queries, please address them to the Clerk of the Course, Ed Gretton.

Members of the Racehorse Owners Association, who are part of the ROA Owners´ Badge Scheme, are allowed free entry into the course on the following racedays:

STABLE STAFF

Bangor-on-Dee Racecourse would like to thank stable staff for their invaluable role in putting the “racing show” on the road. Stable staff facilities included free Tea & Coffee for stable staff working on racedays and the Stable Staff hostel for overnight accomodation.

STANDARDS OF DRESS

There is no official dress code for the Paddock or Course Enclosures, although we do ask our racegoers to follow a smart casual code in our Paddock & Wynnstay Restaurants.
