Bangor-on-Dee Racecourse Celebrates #GroundsWeek With Dedicated ‘Thank You’ To Grounds Team Race

Published on 22 March 2023

Bangor-on-Dee Racecourse is celebrating #GroundsWeek by dedicating the name of a race to its Grounds Team at The Spring Meeting on Saturday.

The course has embraced the Grounds Management Association’s annual campaign, which runs from 20-26 March, to raise awareness of the incredible efforts that its grounds professionals undertake by naming the final race on the card, at 4.53pm, a Thank you Bangor-on-Dee Groundstaff Team Hurdle Race (Class 4, 4+yo).

The team work hard all year round to make the only racecourse in North Wales as pristine as possible and ensure the very best jumps conditions for the horses of visiting owners and trainers.

The specially named race is one of seven at Bangor-on-Dee’s first Saturday meeting of 2023, with the feature being The Broughton Hall Estates Handicap Hurdle (Class 2), over a distance of 2m 4f, at 3.08pm.

Patrick Chesters, General Manager at Bangor-on-Dee Racecourse, said:

“Our Grounds Team at Bangor-on-Dee are incredibly dedicated to their profession. A gesture like this, naming the final race at The Spring Meeting a Thank You to them, is a nice way to show our appreciation.”
