Business professionals across Wrexham recently came together for an inspiring one-day event at Bangor-on-Dee Racecourse.
Hailed as a major success, this year’s Elevate Your Business in Wrexham conference saw around 200 delegates in attendance – uniting a rare mix of representatives from a broad range of business sectors, from micro enterprises and SME’s through to global giants.
The event provided an energised and dynamic space for networking, sharing ideas and celebrate success across the county borough.
The day also provided a chance to learn more about key projects that will drive economic growth in the area over the coming years, including the Flintshire and Wrexham Investment Zone, and the city’s Year of Culture 2029 bid.
Now in its second year, the conference built on the momentum of 2024, offering a bigger and bolder programme. A new addition was the “made in Wrexham” tasting and trade stall area, where attendees were able to support and enjoy a showcase of local food and drink.
This year’s event featured a range of keynote speakers, business leaders and project leads:
• Linda Moir – Former Head of Customer Service at Virgin Atlantic and Head of Event Services at the London 2012 Olympics and Paralympics
• Martin McCourt – Former CEO of Dyson
• Alistair Aldridge – Wrexham Gateway Project Manager
• Amanda Evans – Wrexham Community and Culture Trust
• Andrew Harradine – Regeneration & Business Investment Lead
• Iain Taylor – Flintshire and Wrexham Investment Zone
• Henry Bradshaw – Strategic Development Programme Manager (North Wales) for Transport for Wales
• Kerry MacKay – Founder of Scrubbies UK
• Valerie Creusailor – Founder of Goch & Co and Vuka & Partnership Plates
• Simon Thorpe – CEO of Jones’ Village Bakery
• Jamie Edwards – Head of Community at Wrexham AFC
• Mitesh Mistry – Senior Principal Process Engineer at Ipsen Biopharm
• Liam Stevenson – Work Systems Manager at Kellanova
Throughout the day, delegates were able to take away actionable knowledge and strategic insight from both leading industry figures and local business trailblazers. Topics ranged from leadership and customer experience to regeneration plans, and innovation in key sectors.
Councillor Nigel Williams, Wrexham Council’s Lead Member for Economy, Business and Tourism, said: “It was a fantastic event, which really highlighted just how ambitious, connected and innovative our business community is.
“We were joined throughout the day by an incredible line-up of speakers – from global thought-leaders and industry experts, to local entrepreneurs who are taking the business world by storm.
“Bringing local businesses together to network, share ideas and learn about opportunities is really important, and helps to create confidence, which in turn can attract further investment and interest in Wrexham.
“I’d like to say a huge thank you to everyone involved in delivering such a motivating and impactful event, including the speakers, delegates and the council’s business and investment team, who did a tremendous job in organising the conference. The feedback we’ve received has been incredible.”
The 2025 Elevate your Business in Wrexham Conference was made possible as a result of funding secured from the UK Government via the Shared Prosperity Fund.
