Coldplay and Elton John Tribute Acts to Perform at Glast-on-Dee Music Night

Published on 24 May 2024

Bangor-on-Dee Racecourse has announced ‘A Sky Full of Stars’ for an immersive festival of music and racing next month.

North Wales’ only racecourse has lined up some big-name tribute acts to perform at its first ever Glast-on-Dee Music Night on Friday 28 June.

Set your ‘Clocks’ for a pre-racing appearance from Viva La Vida, an unparalleled tribute to Coldplay who will be performing their greatest hits live.

Renowned for their spectacular shows that leave audiences spellbound, Viva la Vida mirror the enthralling stage presence and musical brilliance of the nine-time Brit Award winning band, fronted by Chris Martin.

From the ‘Speed of Sound’ to the speed of the horses thundering around the track, you’ll then be able to singalong to a show-stopping performance from Elite Elton before the sun goes down on you.

Bringing Sir Elton John’s huge repertoire of classics to the racecourse after six thrilling jumps races, Elite Elton will take to the piano to close out what is set to be an unmissable occasion, having previously performed at many prestigious venues across the world, as well as on TV and Radio.

Patrick Chesters, General Manager at Bangor-on-Dee Racecourse, said:

“We’re really excited to announce our line-up of entertainment for what promises to be a very special Glast-on-Dee Music Night at the racecourse.

“This will be our very own festival of music and racing that really does have something for everyone to come and enjoy.

“We’re thrilled to have Viva La Vida opening proceedings with the greatest hits of Coldplay before racing and then, after all the action on the track, we’ll be rounding off an unmissable evening with a special performance from Elite Elton.”

Ross Petty, frontman of Viva La Vida, said:

“We are absolutely thrilled to have been asked to perform at the Glast-On-Dee Music Night.

“Having the opportunity to be at the first festival type event at the racecourse is a huge honour.

“As the real Coldplay prepare to headline at Glastonbury, Viva La Vida are gearing up to bring a heavyweight performance that the audience at Bangor-On-Dee Racecourse will not soon forget. It’s going to be epic, and we can’t wait.”

On his own performance, Elite Elton added:

“I’m really looking forward to performing at the great Bangor-on-Dee Racecourse, so let’s get ready for giant feathers, electric boots, Elton glasses and Elton suits!”
