The Paddock Enclosure at Bangor-on-Dee gets you close to the post-race celebrations and the presentations to winning connections. This enclosure includes the pre-Parade, Parade Ring and Winner’s Enclosure, as well as fantastic views of the home straight. A paddock ticket is a popular choice for racegoers looking for the perfect combination of spectacular views of the track and full use of Bangor-on-Dee’s facilities.

Facilities include access to three public bars under-cover, food concessions and Bangor Bet betting terminals, the Bangor Bet betting shop, in which you can place a bet on any sport, anywhere in the country and the independent bookmakers, located on the hard standing adjacent to the Parade Ring.

Children aged 17 and under are allowed into this enclosure completely free of charge when accompanied by a full paying, responsible adult.

Dress Code: There is no formal dress code in this enclosure.

Racegoers who have a Paddock Enclosure ticket are allowed to move between the paddock and Open Course.

The 150-seater Paddock Restaurant is located opposite the Parade Ring and in close proximity to the Pre-Parade Ring. This glass fronted restaurant combines sumptuous menus and fine wine with a buzzing atmosphere. The private terrace offers the idea location from which to watch the racing or view the runners before they go to post.

Guests will enjoy a three-course menu, cash bar, tea and coffee after lunch, a complimentary racecard, waitress service and table service betting. The Silks Club is housed in what was previously known as the Stable Door Café but is now the location of a private entertaining space for groups. The Silks Club offers some of the best views of the racecourse with indoor and outdoor cover, as well as views of the racetrack and parade ring.

• Private use of the facility for the entire race day

We have modern accessibility facilities for all racegoers including limited hard-standing parking in the car park and easy access turnstiles.

Here’s some things you may need to know:

• Our racecourse is single story, making all public areas easily accessible to disabled racegoers.
• A designated viewing area has been established in the Paddock enclosure that gives particularly good views of the track and winning post.
• Aid dogs are welcome.

Disabled racegoers will be charged the standard ticket price but if they are accompanied by a carer, the carer may enter designated areas free of charge.

Betting at Bangor offers a full Tote service with Win, Place, Exacta, Trifecta, Placepot and all the other usual Tote products. Although operated by our own Bangor staff, all Tote wagers will go into the main pool with predicted returns shown around the course on our screens, with both “home” and “away” dividends shown.

As soon as the result is known the winning returns will be displayed on the screens and you will be able to go and collect your winnings from any of the Bangor Tote windows. In addition to the pool betting we also operate a betting shop with all the usual offerings you will find with any high street bookies. In here we can take multiple bets on horses in addition to bets on other sports such as golf, football and cricket.

Alternatively, we have a number of independent bookmakers in the Betting Ring who will be able to accommodate you with a fixed price.

Cards are accepted at most of our vendors for betting and refreshments but we do advise to bring cash with you to be on the safe side.

Food and beverage concessions accept contactless payments (including Apple Pay, Google Pay etc.).

Cash can be withdrawn using card or mobile payment (Apple Pay, Google Pay etc.) by visiting the race day office.

If you are attending racing as part of a celebration (say Hen or Stag party) and are planning on wearing fancy dress, please let Guest Services know so they can provide you with further advice.

Enclosures

Dress for the different seasons at Bangor-on-Dee! Lucky for you, there’s no strict dress code in our public enclosures so grab your shorts and sunnies for summer and your coat and woolly hats for winter.

Just a heads up, there’s a few walking areas at our racecourse which are often on grassy ground so take that into account for your footwear. We don’t want your fancy shiny shoes ruined!

Hospitality

It is slightly different in our hospitality facilities and restaurants. Denim, trainers and sportswear are not allowed.

Depending on the type of admission booked, you will have a ticket or a swing-badge. Don’t shy away of flashing your swing-badge! Hand it from your button hole or handbag strap so that it can be readily seen by our team.

You’ll be spoilt for choice with all our food and drink options that are available on a raceday.

Within the Open Course, feel free to bring a picnic (including alcohol) and BBQs if we are blessed with the glorious sunshine, however please be considerate to other racegoers when operating a BBQ.

We do not allow picnics or alcohol into the Paddock Enclosure. But don’t worry! The Paddock Enclosure has a lot of tasty treats and drinks for you to choose from. Whether you fancy a mouth-watering burger or want to keep it traditional with fish and chips – there’s something for everyone!

Our racecourse is just 25 minutes from the city of Chester and is well sign posted from the A483 southbound. From the South and Midlands, the racecourse is best approached by using the M6 and M54 (J3) then take the A41 to Whitchurch and finally the A525 towards Wrexham.

By Rail

Wrexham General Station is the closest to the racecourse and a FREE bus service operates from the racecourse on race days. Please see the ‘By Coach’ section for timings.

By Coach

NEW FOR 2025: We are now offering a FREE coach from Chester Racecourse to Bangor-On-Dee Racecourse. The coach will depart from the Holiday Inn Car Park and return after racing. We have free parking at Chester Racecourse and this will work on a ‘first come, first serve’ basis.

Full Coach Itinerary:

• 10:00am – Chester Train Station Pick Up
• 10:15am – Chester Racecourse Pick Up
• 10:45am – Wrexham Train Station Pick Up
• Arrive at Bangor-on-Dee Racecourse.

Return:

• 3:45pm – Leave Bangor-On-Dee Racecourse.

A number of taxi firms operate within the local area. Don’t forget to book ahead to ensure you’re one of the first ones straight through the gates.

By Bus

Wrexham Council provides a bus service in the local area and bus timetable information can be found here.

Car parking on site at Bangor-on-Dee Racecourse is FREE to racegoers on race days.
