Unfortunately we are unable to accommodate staff under the age of 18.

For all stabling queries, please email stables@bangorondeeraces.co.uk before 12pm the day before a raceday.

The allocation of badges is 6 per ownership, for single ownership’s and partnerships. This continues for syndicates however, if syndicates prefer 12 complimentary badges and the option for those individuals to purchase lunch at £25 per person (subject to space) this is acceptable. You must provide us the with details of those who will be attending by no later than 4pm on the day before racing. Children can attend as one of the owners/representatives and will be included in the allocation of 6, for lunch no badge required under 18 years old. Please use the Racecourse PASS System to do this, via www.rcapass.com.  If you do not have access to the PASS System or need any assistance in its use, please contact the PASS Helpdesk on 01933 270333 or pass@weatherbys.co.uk.

Lunch (supper on evening meetings) will be available from 1hr after gate opening until the start of the third to last race.

It will be possible to  purchase additional badges subject to space. Badges must strictly be used only by the named/registered Owner or their immediate family and cannot be transferred to the Owners of other horses, owners without runners or guests.

If you have reduced mobility or a disability of any kind and require additional assistance on raceday, please notify us directly once you have registered your attendance through PASS and we will assist you.

Please note that if your horse is declared a non-runner, you will NOT be permitted to attend the fixture.

In the Owners Restaurant on arrival you will be shown to a seat which will be yours for the whole afternoon. There will be a carvery available, plus tea and coffee and a bar facility. These are shared tables of 12.

Viewing can be from the grass bank overlooking the track or on the Big Screen or the multiple televisions in the owners restaurant.

By Road

Bangor-on-Dee lies just 25 minutes from Chester and is well-signed from the main A483 southbound. From the South and Midlands, take the M6 and M54 (j3) then the A41 to Whitchurch and finally the A525 towards Wrexham.

If you are using a SatNav, the postcode LL13 0DA should be used.

Car Parking

Car parking is free at Bangor-on-Dee racecourse and is clearly signposted as you arrive to the racecourse.

By Rail

Wrexham General Station is the closest to the Racecourse and a free bus service operates from the Racecourse on scheduled racedays. The bus leaves the station 90 minutes before the first race and returns 20 minutes after the last race. Be sure to check race times before planning your travel by bus from the Station. Priority will be given to rail users, please keep your ticket.

Admission to the Parade Ring before the race may only be limited subject to safety conditions.

Racehorse Owners Association Gold Standard

Bangor-on-Dee Racecourse received the ROA Gold Standard from the opening of its new Owners and Trainers Facilities in 2017, and again in 2018, 2019, 2022 and 2023. No standard award was issued during the pandemic in 2020 and 2021.

Bangor-on-Dee also won Small Racecourse of the Year in 2018.

Members of the Racehorse Owners Association, who are part of the ROA Owners’ Badge Scheme are offered two Owners & Trainers badges every raceday at Bangor-on-Dee when not racing behind closed doors.

Becoming an Owner

The ROA has produced a useful handbook – A Guide to Racehorse Ownership. This is a free, comprehensive resource, designed for existing and potential racehorse owners alike. The Guide covers a broad range of subjects, designed to demystify racehorse ownership and make it more accessible to a wider audience.

Who can become a new owner?

Anyone over 16 years of age (applicants aged 16 or 17 require a personal guarantee from a currently registered owner) can apply. Every applicant will be subject to identity and credit checks and have to be approved by the British Horseracing Authority (BHA).

Register as an owner. Prospective owners can register to be an owner online via the BHA website here.

Types of Racehorse Ownership:

–   Sole ownership (An individual has 100% share in the horse)

–   Company (A company can register as an Owner, owning horses 100%)

–   Partnership (Two or more people who are members of the Partnership are registered owners and share a percentage of the horse)

–   Syndicate (A share in a percentage of a horse that is managed and administered by the Syndicator/s. It isn’t necessary for members of the Syndicate to register as owners.)

–   Racing Club (A subscription to experience racehorse ownership. It isn’t necessary for members of the Syndicate to register as owners.)

–   Leasing (Ownership of a racehorse for a set period of time)

If you’re travelling from further afield, you may wish to arrange accomodation in advance of your visit to the racecourse.

Overseas runners will always be warmly welcomed at Bangor-on-Dee and we receive a lot of runners from Ireland. All enquiries should be directed to the owners and trainers liaison – ownersandtrainers@bangorondeeraces.co.uk

Winning connections will be invited into our Entertainment Suite to watch a replay of the race and enjoy a glass of Champagne. Winning connections will receive a bottle of Champagne and a memento along with a Video Brochure showing the race, a photograph of their winning horse and a USB. Placed connections second, third and fourth will be invited into the entertainment suite for a glass of champagne and receive a copy of their race on USB.

Media Accreditation

Application criteria

For racing media, an RCA media accreditation press pass and car park label permits access into the racecourse for all fixtures in the racing calendar. For members of the media who do not hold an RCA media accreditation pass, course access requests should be made in writing to the marketing department no later than five days before a fixture. Please be advised that access to the Press Room facilities at Bangor-on-Dee Racecourse are reserved for RCA media accredited personnel only. Adhoc requests to access wifi and hot desk facilities will be reviewed on a case by case basis and granted on a first come, first served basis.

Access requests for accreditation are not granted to agency photographers as Bangor-on-Dee Racecourse have an Official Course Photographer. When applying for accreditation via e-mail, you will need to provide supporting evidence of the publication or media outlet you are working for, or if a freelance, a letter from a commissioning editor.  If you are a photographer, differing levels of access will be granted as access to the course is limited to photographers with racing experience.  Full instructions regarding permitted areas of access will be provided upon successful application. Photographers without RCA accreditation status will not be granted access to the track, Parade Ring or Winners Enclosure.

Broadcast media

For broadcast media, accreditation requests need to be fielded by the rights holders, Sky Sport Racing, before access can be granted. Upon application, full details of the nature of the broadcast will need to be outlined. Please email Sky Sports Racing and the marketing department for further information.

Media facilities

For all race meetings at Bangor-on-Dee, media filing copy or images on the day of racing, RCA media accredited members of the press can access the Press Room, located adjacent to the Secretary’s Office. Free wifi is provided.

Bangor Racecourse has a proactive attitude to catering for racegoers with accessibility needs.

At Bangor-on-Dee Racecourse we pride ourselves in providing modern facilities for all racegoers.  Limited hard-standing parking is available in the car park, facilitating easy access to the turnstiles. Alternatively, there are designated accessible car parking areas in all car parks.

The Racecourse is single storey, making all public areas easily accessible to racegoers.

A designated viewing area has been established in the Paddock enclosure that gives particularly good views of the track and winning post.

Guide dogs are welcome.

All racegoers with accessibility concerns will be charged the standard ticket price, but if they are accompanied by a carer, the carer may enter designated areas free of charge.

Gentlemen are required to wear a well-tailored suit or a blazer/jacket with smart trousers, together with a shirt, collar and tie. Ladies are required to wear smart attire. No denim jeans of any colour, no trainers, no sportswear and no fancy dress will be permitted. If your ownership involves more than one partner, we do ask that you relay this information onto your other part-owners before the day.
