Bangor-on-Dee Racecourse raise over £500 for Save the Children.

Published on 23 December 2019

Racegoers at the final meeting of 2019 were encouraged to get in the festive spirit at the Christmas Meeting on Friday 13 December and sport a Christmas Jumper in support of Save the Children’s national day.

Volunteers from parent company Chester Race Company braced the cold weather conditions to host a bucket collection at the end of racing to support the worthy cause. In addition to staff donations, an impressive £564.68 was raised on the day for the charity with the support from the local community shop in Mold.

“We’re delighted… it’s all for a good cause! Thank you to everyone who donated.” exclaimed General Manager, Jeannie Chantler.

Every pound raised for Save the Children goes towards giving children in need in the UK and around the globe a fighting chance to grow up healthy and happy. Just £2 can pay for antibiotics for eight children suffering from pneumonia, one of the biggest killers of children, whilst £5 can provide a winter jacket for a child in Syria.
