The Paddock Enclosure at Bangor-on-Dee gets you close to the pre-amble, the post-race celebrations and the presentations to winning connections. This enclosure incorporates the pre-Parade, Parade Ring and Winner’s Enclosure, as well as fantastic views of the home straight. A paddock ticket is a popular choice for racegoers looking for the perfect combination of spectacular views of the track and full use of Bangor-on-Dee’s facilities.

Amenities include access to three public bars under-cover, food concessions and Bangor Bet betting terminals, the Bangor Bet betting shop, in which you can place a bet on any sport, anywhere in the country and the independent bookmakers, located on the hard standing adjacent to the Parade Ring.

Children aged 17 and under are permitted into this enclosure completely free of charge when accompanied by a full paying, responsible adult.

Dress Code: There is no formal dress code in this enclosure.

Racegoers in possession of a Paddock Enclosure ticket are permitted to move between the paddock and Open Course.

The 170-seater Wynnstay Restaurant is the perfect base for an enriched race day experience at Bangor-on-Dee. The restaurant is situated in close proximity to the raceday bookmakers, at the heart of the course.

Guests will enjoy a two-course carvery lunch, tea and coffee after lunch, cash bar and a complimentary racecard. Once you’ve finished dining, leave your reserved table and stroll to the rails of the race track to watch the thrilling action of the day.

The 150-seater Paddock Restaurant is located opposite the Parade Ring and in close proximity to the Pre-Parade Ring. This glass fronted restaurant combines sumptuous menus and fine wine with a buzzing atmosphere. The private terrace offers the idea location from which to watch the racing or view the runners before they go to post.

Guests will enjoy a three-course menu, cash bar, tea and coffee after lunch, a complimentary racecard, waitress service and table service betting. Your private table will be reserved throughout the day, meaning you can come and go as you please and experience everything the racecourse has to offer.

The Christmas Marquee Restaurant is the perfect place to celebrate the festivities along with enjoying a great day of racing.

The package includes, your admission, a table reserved throughout the day (booking of less than 8 could potentially be on a shared table), a three course Christmas lunch, coffee & mince pie, a complimentary race card, betting facilities and TV viewing.

Chester Race Company has a proactive attitude to catering for disabled racegoers.

At Bangor-on-Dee Racecourse we pride ourselves in providing modern facilities for all racegoers.  Limited hard-standing parking is available in the car park, facilitating easy access to the turnstiles.

The Racecourse is single story, making all public areas easily accessible to disabled racegoers.

A designated viewing area has been established in the Paddock enclosure that gives particularly good views of the track and winning post.

Aid dogs are welcome.

Disabled racegoers will be charged the standard ticket price, but if they are accompanied by a carer, the carer may enter designated areas free of charge.

Betting at Bangor has changed and we now offer a full Tote service with Win, Place, Exacta, Trifecta, Placepot and all the other usual Tote products. Although operated by our own Bangor staff all Tote wagers will go into the main pool with predicted returns shown around the course on our screens, with both “home” and “away” dividends shown.

As soon as the result is known the winning returns will be displayed on the screens and you will be able to go and collect your winnings from any of the Bangor Tote windows. In addition to the pool betting we also operate a betting shop with all the usual offerings you will find with any high street bookies. In here we can take multiple bets on horses in addition to bets on other sports such as golf, football and cricket.

Alternatively, we have a number of independent bookmakers in the Betting Ring who will be able to accommodate you with a fixed price.

Whilst cards are accepted at most of our vendors for betting and refreshments, it is advisable to bring cash with you. Food and beverage concessions accept contactless payments (including Apple Pay, Google Pay etc.). Cash can be withdrawn using card or mobile payment (Apple Pay, Google Pay etc.) by visiting the race day office.

Like fashion, the dress code at Bangor-on-Dee has seasons. The summer season is a time when many racegoers like to dress up, however, at Bangor-on-Dee, unlike a lot of courses, we have no strict dress code in our public enclosures.

In winter, it’s especially important to be comfortable and dress for the elements.

If you are planning on dining in one of our hospitality facilities or restaurants, please note that denim, trainers and sportswear aren’t permitted.

If you are attending racing as part of a celebration (say Hen or Stag party) and are planning on wearing fancy dress, please contact the Box Office, who can provide you with further advice.

Depending on the type of admission booked, you will have a ticket or a swing-badge. The latter should be prominently displayed – usually from a button hole or a handbag strap – so that it can be readily seen by officials.

A good deal of walking is involved and is part and parcel for any racecourse visit, often on grassy ground so please be practical when it comes to footwear and dressing for the elements.

There are ample opportunities to indulge when you get to Bangor-on-Dee with a variety of different food and drink concessions on offer.

Within the Open Course, we are happy for racegoers to bring picnics (including alcohol) to the Open Course and BBQs are permitted, however, we ask that you are considerate to other racegoers when operating a BBQ. Racegoers are prohibited from taking picnics or alcohol into the Paddock Enclosure.

The Paddock Enclosure food court offers racegoers a range of food and beverage options to choose from. There’s something for every appetite including The Grill, Stable Door and traditional fish & chips.

Alternatively, you could upgrade your day and enjoy a hospitality package. Restaurant dining at Bangor is often a nice way to escape the elements and if you’ve purchased an admission ticket, you can often upgrade to a restaurant by paying the difference before your visit.

By Road

Bangor-on-Dee Racecourse lies just 25 minutes from the city of Chester and is well sign posted from the A483 southbound. From the South and Midlands, the racecourse is  best approached by using the M6 and M54 (J3) then take the A41 to Whitchurch and finally the A525 towards Wrexham.

A number of taxi firms operate within the local area. It is recommended that you book ahead to ensure your arrival/departure is not delayed.

By Rail

Wrexham General Station is the closest to the racecourse and a FREE bus service operates from the racecourse on race days. The bus leaves the station 90 minutes before the first race and return 20 minutes after the last race.

By Bus

Wrexham Council operates a bus service in the local area and bus timetable information can be found here.

By Air

If you wish to arrive by helicopter at the course, you must contact the racecourse office beforehand on 01978 782 081 to confirm arrival/departure times and landing area etc.

Parking

Car parking on site at Bangor-on-Dee Racecourse is FREE to racegoers on race days.
